On their website, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration offers additional information which reveals how many people are killed or injured in pedestrian accidents. The NHTSA says that in 2015, pedestrians were among a small number of groups of people who use the road to actually see an increase in the number of deaths. The NHTSA also reports that 11,000 pedestrians under the age of 14 were injured in 2009, which shows how important it is for drivers to watch out for children and remain aware at all times.
